Frequently Asked Questions

Lesson Details

Q  What age do you teach?
A  We teach from 2.5 years old right up to adults.

Q  What stage or ability do you teach up to?
We teach up to and including Stage 6, covering all four strokes confidently over 10–50 metres along with all essential swimming skills.

Q  Do you teach people with additional needs?
A  Yes, we do. Please provide more details when enquiring so we can allocate the most suitable instructor.

Can I book a trial lesson before committing?
A  Yes. You only need to pay the deposit upfront, which allows you to try a lesson before committing to the full course.

Q  How quick will my child learn to swim?
A  If your child isn’t scared of the water and has no additional needs, we typically expect them to swim 1-5 metres unaided in their first lesson.

Q  How long does it take for an adult to learn to swim?
A  A complete beginner can usually swim 3–5 metres unaided in the first lesson. Progress then depends on how quickly you pick up the technique.

Q  Do I need to be in the water with my child?
A  No. From 2.5 years and up, children join our one-to-one lessons independently.

Pool & Facilities

Q  Is the pool at a house?
A  Yes. It’s a private pool located in a house. The changing room is the white door on the side, let yourself in, get changed, and wait until the previous lesson has finished.

Q  Is the pool heated?
Yes, the pool is heated to between 30–31°C all year round.

Q  Is there free parking?
A  Yes, there’s free street parking right outside.

Q  Can I stay and watch the lesson?
A  Yes, there are chairs poolside where you can sit and watch.

Q  Does the swimmer need to wear a swimming hat and goggles?
Yes, ideally. We sell both on poolside:
• Swimming hats – £5
• Kids’ goggles – £10
• Adult goggles – £15

What if my child won’t wear a hat?
A  Try a soft fabric hat and practice wearing it in the bath to get them used to it.

Lesson Logistics

Q  What if I miss a lesson?
A  If you give advance notice (e.g. for holidays), you can be added to our make-up list. We’ll try to find a replacement slot, but it’s not guaranteed as it depends on other cancellations.
Short-notice absences are forfeited.

Q  What days do lessons run?
Lessons currently run on weekends and during school holidays.

Coaching & Progress

Q  If the pool is only 3m x 6m, can you teach stroke correction and stamina?
Yes. Even in a 3x6m pool, we successfully coach triathletes and club swimmers on technique and endurance. We use tools like pool bungees to focus on stroke correction and build stamina efficiently.
